The following dress code is in effect for all performances by the Bloomington North Concert Bands.

Intermediate Jazz Band

Women – Semi-Formal (skirt or pants, darkish in color), dress shoes.

Men – Dress shirt (any color), tie, dress pants (dark color, no jeans), dress shoes (no tennis shoes). A sport coat, vest or suit coat if preferred.

Advanced, Lab and Studio

Women – Semi-Formal/Formal (dress skirt or pants, darkish in color), dress shoes.

Men – Dark suit (dress pants and jacket, any dark color), dress shirt (any color), tie, dark shoes.

Students will be placed in the appropriate band class for their level.

Jazz Band Offerings:

Intermediate Jazz (Jazz 4)  

Lab Jazz (Jazz 3)

Studio Jazz (Jazz 2)

Advanced Jazz (Jazz 1)

Sometimes students are required to audition if they desire to be in a higher band. All students audition for placements within their band.

Our Jazz Bands will be showcased in a fall concert as well as a spring concert at North in the Auditorium. In addition to these community performances the bands compete in ISSMA sanctioned contests. The top bands attend Jazz festivals at Purdue and Ball State. All bands perform at Bloomington Jazz Fest hosted by our team of Directors, Students and Parent Volunteers every other year.
